Botvid

Where discarded materials meet circular thinking, purposeful storytelling, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

In collaboration with Johanna Pettersson for the Circular Design course at Mid Sweden University, we developed Botvid, a sustainable business concept that transforms landfill-retrieved materials into functional, Nordic-inspired products. The starting point was a rare find: a pair of size 44 slippers at the Sundsvall landfill, which became the foundation of the entire design process.

Every element of Botvid reflects circular thinking. Reclaimed leather from secondhand coats forms the slippers' soles and straps, while the packaging doubles as a functional shelf with a reusable leather handle. Reuse, functionality, and narrative-driven design come together to give discarded objects a second life, rooted in ecological awareness and Nordic sensibility.

Botvid was presented at Mid Sweden University's recycling festival, showing how collaboration, circular thinking, and strategic design can turn overlooked materials into meaningful, market-ready products.
